No F****** Thing(s)? No F****** Thanks!

I’d rather pay for and have a CD, vinyl record, physical picture that I can Feel in my hands than a virtual, digital representation of said Thing. I’ve paid musicians £20 or £30 directly for a number of newly created, recorded, produced & printed (signed) records over the last 12 months or so. And 2 that were Composed & Recorded some years ago and Reprinted recently (Brian May’s Back To The Light album, REM’s Monster album [2 LP set including Original and New mixes]). And lots of older, 2nd hand CDs at / from the charity shop I volunteer at.

These records may not be Unique, they may not be Mine to Reproduce and/or Sell, I can’t claim to Own The Songs, Compositions or Recording(s). But I do own that physical copy of the recording. Assuming more of these Records can be produced, they ARE Fungible. I can put them on my turntable and listen to the recordings of music stored on. I have invested in, shown my support for those musicians by doing so.

I would pay for an oficial CD that they (or their distributor, label created). If they want to include digital, virtual copies of the songs with the Thing, then that’s up to them. I wouldn’t pay for an ‘NFT of/for the music’. I wouldn’t pay for Wavs or MP3s of the same music.

If I had $69m, I wouldn’t pay for an NFT of a piece of digital art. Who ever did had More Money Than Sense in my opinion. I’d buy an actual physical piece of painted or drawn art, that I could hold in my hands and hang on my wall — either a 1 off, that was created/produced directly by the artist, or a Print (a copy) of it. And a house. Or 2. And a car. And a grand piano. And a drum kit. And launch these parts of the Cheeky group

Dexuality Valentino told me the “Future of NFT’s who knows. When digital art came along people said it would be a short lived thing. who would want something that can be copied and copied? Yet Digital art is huge now. It hasn’t overtaken real painting but it sits with it, as a separate art form. I think NFT’s will have a similar existence.”

How do YOU feel / what do YOU think about NFTs?
